Gahan Wilson an 'acquired taste'? From the first cartoon of his I saw, I died laughing. For the time period and genre, maybe only Charles Addams comes close. We might not have had a Kliban, a Piraro or a Gary Larson without him.
My favorite Wilson cartoon was a scene of a primitive tribe worshiping a large sculpted idol of the number Zero, with an pair of anthropologists asking one another"Is nothing sacred?"
