I don't have to explain Peter Max to anyone, do I? Popular artist who came to prominence during the late '60s with his psychedelic art. He became something of an industry, with his name and artwork attached to many products.
You knew he was hot when he made the cover of LIFE:
Max had his own magazine for a time, named, ta-da! PETER MAX MAGAZINE:
In one shining moment of self-satire Max allowed a goof on himself when PETER MAX MAGAZINE #1 published "Mr. Mouse Meets Peter Max," drawn by the incredible Wallace Wood.
Max is still around, now age 72.

still the same esoteric "huh?" it was 40 years ago.
ReplyDeleteTrying to find any meaning in anything psychedelic is probably futile.
ReplyDeleteAmazing Wood art!
ReplyDelete"Can a Mouse Be a Yogi?" Sounds totally like a those cryptical buddhist haikus.
well, that was different...
ReplyDeleteNope, no reason to explain Peter Max. He seems so dated now, but then it all seemed perfect. Hell, we couldn't even begin to explain Max when he was current. He was just so now and wow.
ReplyDeleteDamn, Wood was brilliant. Again, you find the best stuff.
